Confirmed chartered 11/29/1796. 1796 Proceedings: A Dispensation has this day issued by the command of the Most Worshipful Grand Master, to William King, as Master; Charles Carson, Senior Warden; and Wm. P. Skellem, Junior Warden, to hold a regular Lodge at Abingdon, in the county of Washington, designated and to be known by the name of the Abingdon Lodge, No. 48; which Dispensation is to be in force until the next Grand Annual Communication and no longer. Resolved as the opinion of this committee, That a Charter do issue to them, appointing William King, Master; Charles Carson, Senior Warden; and William P. Skillern, Junior Warden, to hold a regular Lodge in the said town of Abingdon, in the aforesaid county of Washington, designated to be recorded and known by the name of the Abingdon Lodge, No. 48.
