Confirmed chartered 12/09/1817.
1817 Proceedings: A dispensation having been issued by the Grand Master, dated July 22d, 1817, for the opening of a Lodge in the county of Northumberland, by the name of the Benevolentia Lodge, appointing Wm. Gordon, Master; Richard Claughton, Senior Warden; and John L. Chinn, Junior Warden; and the said dispensation being returned with the other necessary documents, and a
petition for a charter, on motion,
Resolved, That a charter do issue for the permanent establishment of said Lodge, by the name of the Benevolentia Lodge, No.
105, appointing the same brethren officers thereof who are named in the said dispensation.
Benevolentia is a Latin word meaning benevolence, kindness, goodwill, or favor, stemming from "well-wishing," and it's used in English to describe a generous, friendly disposition, often seen in rhetoric (captatio benevolentiae) or in ethical contexts like the brand Benevolentia Opus.
