Confirmed chartered 11/29/1796. Confirmed inactive in 1811, not sure of the precise date. 12/11/1811 is the first time the Lodge is mentioned as being part of the new Grand Lodge of D.C.
1796 Proceedings: A Dispensation has this day issued from the Most Worshipful Grand Master to Charles Jones, as Master; John Harper, as Senior Warden, and Alexander McConnell, as Junior Warden, to hold a regular Lodge in the county of Fairfax, in the town of Alexandria, designated and known by the name of the Brooke Lodge, No. 47. This Dispensation is to be in force untill next Grand Lodge and no longer.
Resolved as the opinion of this committee, That a Charter do issue to them, appointing Charles Jones, Master; John Harper, Senior
Warden and Alexander McConnell, Junior Warden, to hold a regular Lodge in the town of Alexandria, in the county of Fairfax, designated, to be recorded, and known by the name of the Brooke Lodge, No. 47.
Editor: Concerning the establishment of the Grand Lodge of the District of Columbia, of which Alexandria and this Lodge were now a part.
1811 Proceedings: Resolved, (as the opinion of this committee,) That the request of Brooke Lodge, No. 47, to retain the charter granted by this Grand Lodge for its original establishment, notwithstanding its separation from our jurisdiction, is unreasonable, and cannot be granted.
