1794 Proceedings: In obedience to the order of the Grand Lodge, bearing date the 27th Nov., 1794, a Charter has this day issued to Robert Jouett, Master; Thomas Divers, Senior Warden, and Edward Moore, Junior Warden, to the new Lodge to be established in the town of Charlottesville, designated by the name of the Door to Virtue Lodge, No. 44; also, a certificate from the Most Worshipful Grand Master, impowering the Worshipful Brothers, Wilson C. Nicholas, Nicholas Cabell and John Quarles, or any two of them to install the said brethren in their different offices agreeably to ancient custom.
1811 Proceedings: Whereas, the charter of Lodge No. 44, has been forwarded to the Grand Lodge, and it appearing that the said Lodge is and has been for some time dormant, and not likely to be revived again:
Resolved, That Brother Alexander Garrett be and he is hereby appointed to collect and take into his care all the jewels, furniture,
and other property of said Lodge, and to collect all balances due from the members thereof, and out of the said collections, and of the sale of the said jewels and- furniture, which he is hereby authorized to make on the best terms, to discharge all claims against said Lodge, as far as the proceeds will admit, and to make report of his proceedings herein to the Grand Master as speedily as possible.
