Confirmed chartered 12/16/1801. 1801 Proceedings: A dispensation having been issued by the Most Worshipful William Austin, dated August 21st, A. L. 5801, appointing Samuel Butler, Master; Langley C. Wills, Senior Warden; and Edwin D. Hart, Junior Warden; with authority to open a Lodge at Surry Courthouse, by the name of the Jefferson Lodge, and the said dispensation, and the other necessary documents, being received, Resolved, That a charter do issue for the permanent establishment of a Lodge at Surry Courthouse, by the name of the Jefferson Lodge, No. 65, appointing the said brethren officers thereof that were named in the said dispensation.
