Confirmed chartered as "Kempsville Lodge No. 25" in District 1 on 12/12/1871. 1870 Proceedings: Whereas, a Dispensation was granted by the Most Worshipful Grand Master for the opening of a Lodge in the town of Kempsville, Princess Anne county, on the 30th day of August, A. D. 1870, and a communication has been received by this Most Worshipful Grand Lodge from Worshipful Brother T. J. Fentriss, stating various and satisfactory reasons why the Lodge has not exercised the powers conferred, and praying a continuance of the Dispensation: Resolved, That the Dispensation be continued until the next Grand Annual Communication of this Most Worshipful Grand Lodge. 1871 Proceedings: Whereas, a Dispensation was issued on the 14th day of December, 1870, by the Most Worshipful Grand Master, authorizing the opening and continuing of the Lodge at Kempsville, Princess Anne county, by the designation of Kempsville Lodge, appointing T. J. Fentress, Master; J. W. McAlpine, Senior Warden; J. L. Nash, Junior Warden; and the Dispensation, together with all other necessary papers, having been returned: Resolved, That a Charter do issue for the permanent establishment of said Lodge, with the name and style of Kempsville Lodge No. 25, and appointing the officers named in the Dispensation.
