Confirmed Chartered as "Lakeland Lodge, No. 190" in District 21 on 12/10/1861. Whereas, a Dispensation was issued by the M. W. Grand Master to authorize the opening of a Lodge at Big Lick Depot, in the county of Roanoke, by the name of Lakeland Lodge, No. ---, and appointing Wor. John A. Sowers, Master, Chas. E. Oliver, Senior Warden, and Thomas Lewis, Junior Warden, and said Dispensation being returned, though unaccompanied with the necessary documents, owing to the absence of the Secretary of said Lodge in the army of the Confederate States: Resolved, That a Charter do issue for the permanent establishment of said Lodge, by the name, title and designation of Lakeland Lodge, No. 190, and appointing the officers named, on their exhibiting to the M. W. Grand Master a satisfactory specimen of their work.
