Notes: Confirmed Chartered as "McAlister Lodge, No. 18" in District 6 on 12/14/1859. Assigned to District 1 in 1861. Whereas, a Dispensation was issued by the M. W. Grand Master to authorize the opening a Lodge at Cypress Chapel, in the county of Nansemond, by the name of McAlister Lodge, No. ---, and appointing Wor. Rich'd E. Parker, Master, J. R. Franklin, Senior Warden, and Ed. C. Riddick, Junior Warden, and said Dispensation being returned with the necessary documents: Resolved, That a Charter do issue for the permanent establishment of said Lodge, by the name, title and designation of McAlister Lodge, No. 185, and appointing the officers named. 1861 Proceedings: Resolved, For reasons appearing satisfactory to your committee, McAlister Lodge, No. 185, be taken from District No 6, and added to District No. 1.
