The first Lodge chartered in Virginia was "Royal Exchange No. 172" by the Grand Lodge of Scotland in December 1733, which later became inactive prior to 1777. Confirmed Chartered as "Norfolk No. 141" on 06/01/1741, and existed alongside Royal Exchange for some time. They were NOT the same Lodge. One of the nine charter Lodges of the Grand Lodge of Virginia in 1788.
