One of the nine charter Lodges of the Grand Lodge of Virginia in 1788. Not sure if the Lodge is York, York Town, or Yorktown. Confirmed originally chartered 08/01/1755 by the Grand Lodge of Scotland as "York No. 204", became dormant, then revived 02/22/1780. Confirmed revived on 12/09/1817. 1796 Proceedings: Respecting the delinquent Lodges—whereas sundry resolutions have been successively adopted by the Grand Lodge, expressive of their determination to suspend the Charter of those Lodges which, in despite of all remonstrances, still refuse to commune with the Grand Lodge of Virginia, agreeably to their constitution and the regulations of the said Grand Lodge; and the Grand Lodge finding themselves at a loss for regular information with respect to all the Lodges under the jurisdiction of the Grand Lodge coming within this description, but on such as have come within their knowledge, they beg leave to offer the following resolution: Resolved as the opinion of this committee, That such Lodges as do not regularly work, viz: Nos. 5, 8, 9, 12, 16, 21, 28 and 31, be by the Grand Lodge suspended from the authority of working until it is manifested by a regular representative with their arrearages, at which time the Grand Lodge pledge themselves to treat them with that lenity they may deserve, which will be in reinstating them in all their privileges. 1817 Proceedings: A petition was received, signed by several brethren, resident in and near the town of York, who have been for some time working under a dispensation, praying that they may be appointed to revive the labors of the York Lodge, No. 9. On mature consideration of the whole case, Resolved unanimously, That on the payment of the sum of forty dollars, which will be received in full discharge of all arrearages due by the said Lodge No. 9, to this Grand Lodge, the prayer of the petitioners be granted, and that Robert Anderson be appointed Master; Samuel Shields, Senior Warden; and Thomas Griffin, Junior Warden; to revive and continue the labors of said Lodge, No. 9.
